VISAKHAPATNAM: East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager A.K. Vohra on Wednesday visited Visakhapatnam Port and commissioned full rake handling railway complex at the East Yard. Stacking area The facility has increased the stacking area from 91,000 sq. metres to 2.60 lakh sq. metres, cargo handling capacity from three lakh tonnes to 9.86 lakh tonnes and decrease in operational time and cost. The railway handling capacity has also gone up from six rakes to 18 rakes a day. SAIL cargo was handled to mark the occasion. VPT Deputy Chairman G.V.L. Satya Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager D. Kamilla, port users and officials of SAIL, NMDC and others were present at the programme.
