40,000 animators required globally, says CEO of Toonboom Animation


Green Gold Academy of Animation launched in city

Academy known for creating the popular ‘Chhota Bheem'


HYDERABAD: An estimated 40,000 animators were required as on date, globally, said Joan Vogelesang, president & CEO of Toonboom Animation Inc. Montreal, Canada, referring to the enormous potential of employability in the sector.

She was speaking after inaugurating the Green Gold Academy of Animation here on Thursday. The parent company, Green Gold Animation is known for creating the popular ‘Chhota Bheem' animated television serial that helped Pogo channel to emerge the numero uno kids channel with a market share of 9 per cent. Toonboom Animation is associated with the popular Disney serial, ‘Princess and the Frog' and has to its credit 26 feature films and 80 television serials.

100 p.c. placement

Green Gold founder Rajiv Chilaka said the academy would assure 100 per cent placement. They offered a long-term one year diploma courses in 2D traditional and flash character animation and 2D traditional and 3D character animation and short term, 3-month courses in digital background painting and post production (editing/compositing).

Company's promoter, Samir Jain said initially the company was doing outsourced work and went on to create in-house content, starting with Vikram Betal, followed by Krishna-Balram series and then the chart-busting Chhota Bheem. He said they planned to get into theatrical animation movies very soon. The academy's Dean, Rosauro Adorable, with over 3 decades of experience in the field and worked on projects including Tom & Jerry from Warner Brothers recalled how in the 80s, no one knew anything about animation. Award-winning Telugu film director Indraganti Mohanakrishna said the medium of animation was increasingly becoming important specially by way of attracting the attention of children.
