CHANDIGARH: Karan Rastogi reached the final with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over the seventh-seeded Adrian Sikora of Slovakia in the $10,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Friday. In the final, Karan will face qualifier Romain Sichez of France who put out the third-seeded V. M. Ranjeet in three sets. National champion Ranjeet was unable to drive home the advantage after winning the first set, and eventually was in no position to fight it out in the end, as he was being repeatedly treated for cramps during the change-overs in the decider. In the doubles final, the fourth-seeded Americans Ruben Gonzales and Nathan Thompson proved strong for the Indian pair of Vijayant Malik and Ashutosh Singh, as they pulled it off in two tough sets. However, local lad Vijayant Malik had something to cheer about, as he was promised support for his fledgling tennis career by the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who reached the venue and watched the action keenlyduring the first singles semifnal. The results: Singles (semifinals): Romain Sichez (Fra) bt V. M. Ranjeet 3-6, 6-3, 6-3; Karan Rastogi bt Adrian Sikora (Svk) 7-5, 6-3. Doubles (final): Ruben Gonzales and Nathan Thompson (US) bt Vijayant Malik and Ashutosh Singh 7-5, 7-6(4) .
