VIJAYAWADA: A two-day job mela being organised by HCL Computers got off to a start at S.R.K. Institute of Technology at Enikepadu here on Friday, indicating that the good times on the job front are back. The company seeks to recruit graduates and postgraduates of engineering, technology and management as ‘technical support officers' for its unit at Chennai.

Those, who completed their graduation/post-graduation between the years 2005 and 2009 and from Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Chittoor districts, were asked to attend the fair, which received good response on the first day.

College president B.S. Appa Rao said the fair aimed to provide jobs to candidates, whose academic brilliance was just average and above-average. “It has been proved in many organisations that candidates, who secured average and above average marks in their academics excel in their jobs as compared to the brilliant students,” he said. Mr. Rao thanked the HCL for positively responding to the institute's proposal to conduct the fair.

HCL Computers Resource Provider Mallesh said there were umpteen opportunities in the global market for the right kind of candidates. “Most of the students lag behind in communication skills and this is why they miss very good opportunities,” he said.

The company was conducting these fairs all through the year as it was on an expansion spree, he said. Secretary of the institute B.S. Srikrishna and others were present.
