Farmers hit by power cuts: Jayalalithaa

CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa has said power cuts in Tamil Nadu were putting farmers in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Villupuram and Nagapattinam through extreme hardship.

While the government had assured the farmers that they would get at least six hours of power during the day and four hours during the night, even that had not been given to them. The power cuts were also inconveniencing students who were writing the public exams, Ms. Jayalalithaa charged.
