NCC instructor felicitated

WELL DONE: Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, M. Ponnavaikko felicitating Havildar Dharampal Singh in Tiruchi.

TIRUCHI: Havildar Dharampal Singh, a Permanent Instructional (PI) Staff attached to the 2 TN Armoured Squadron NCC, Tiruchi, was felicitated here recently for having been adjudged the “Overall Best Student” in the orientation course held for the newly posted staff in NCC.

The course was conducted at the NCC Officers Training Academy at Kamptee near Nagpur which in addition to providing pre-commission training to teaching staff drawn from various colleges and schools for commissioning them as Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) also conducts refresher training to the ANOs besides organising re-orientation training to Junior Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers posted to NCC units.

Overall best student

Havildar Singh, who has been serving in the Army for 14 years, was adjudged the “Overall Best Student” from amongst the 25 PI Staff who came from different units from all over the country to attend the course.

Havildar Singh, who is from the Sikh Light Infantry regiment, joined the NCC unit at Tiruchi recently.

The orientation course featured drill, firing, weapon training, map reading and written test as applicable to the NCC cadets.

Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, M. Ponnavaikko felicitated Havildar Singh at a function organised by the NCC Group Headquarters here to distribute scholarships to NCC cadets who were adjudged “Best Cadet” and “Second Best Cadet”.

Cash incentive

A cash incentive was presented to Havildar Singh for his performance.

Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Tiruchi, Colonel B.N. Chetan, Officer Commanding, 2 TN Armoured Squadron NCC, Tiruchi, Lieutenant Colonel Raman Thapar, senior Army officers and Associate NCC Officers were present on the occasion, a release here said.
