Thanthai Ganamuthu wins two games

Chennai: Thanthai Ganamuthu won both its league games of the day in the SDAT State hockey championships here on Tuesday.

The results: Thanthai Ganamuthu bt G.K. Motors 5-1; Young Brother Sports bt Friends Hockey 2-1; Thanthai Ganamuthu bt Nehru Memorial 3-0; Best Friends bt Pandians Hockey 2-1; SOS bt Eleven Star 5-2; Eleven Thunder drew with Best Friend 1-1 .

TSC is champion

TSC defeated Mambalam Mosquitos by 44 runs in the TNCA third division championship play-off held here recently.

In a third division ‘A' encounter to decide the 11th spot, J. Jai Shankar's five for 37 helped Venkateswara CC register a three-wicket win over Perambur Club.

The scores: Third division (championship play-off): TSC 176 in 45.4 overs (S.P. Nathan 32, S. Akesh 31, V. Vasudevan 36, G. Gautam three for 34, J. Raj Kumar four for 53) bt Mambalam Mosquitos 132 in 40.1 overs (Shikhar Hukku 59, S. Thiyagu four for 29, V. Vasudevan three for 36).

Third division ‘A' (to decide the 11th placed team): Perambur Club 149 in 48.1 overs (V. Saravanan 49, J. Jai Shankar five for 37, P. Kaushik Sundaram three for 31) lost to Venkateswara CC 153 for seven in 45.3 overs (A. Sachin Kumar 83 n.o, K. Venkatapathy five for 66).

Fourth division (championship play-off): MRC ‘B' 212 in 47.4 overs (V. Harish Bharath 88, J. Prashanth 33, S.S. Santhamoorthy five for 47, D. Muthukrishnan four for 50) bt CUC 170 in 41.3 overs (Deiva Guru 37, M. Md. Raffik 47, E. Madan Kumar three for 33, P.S. Raghavan three for 70).

Fifth division (championship play-off): Appaiah Chettiar 230 in 47.1 overs (K. Saravanan 70, J. Ashok 39, Naveen Kannan six for 92) bt Chatnath 127 in 32.5 overs (Donald Thomas 43, S. Parameswaran five for 39) .
