NEW DELHI: Seven members of a gang involved in illegal slaughtering of cattle were arrested in R.K. Puram here on Tuesday. Chopped off pieces of cattle weighing about three tonnes were also recovered from them besides several weapons such as choppers and knives. The arrests were made in a joint operation worked out by the police in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. A case under Delhi Agriculture Cattle Preservation Act, 1994, has also been registered at the R.K. Puram police station. MCD Leader of House Subhash Arya said after getting the information a team of municipal councillors had also reached Indira Market in R.K. Puram on Tuesday. “Despite a ban on cow slaughter and sale and serving of cow meat, cows are being slaughtered in Delhi. It is a serious violation of the law,” he added.
