Outer Ring Road to have 180 toll plazas

Invitation to bid for the booths to be made in June


HYDERABAD: The Outer Ring Road shaping up around city in different phases will get dotted with a total of 180 toll booths at different locations all along its 158 km stretch.

The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a joint venture company of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh, which received a loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency under phase-2, has sought prequalification documents for design, supply, installation and commissioning of toll collection systems at 19 interchanges. These facilities have been conceived as toll management centre system, toll plaza and toll lane system and will have closed toll collection with manual, touch and go, nonstop electronic toll collections (ETC) for the expressway. Of the 180 booths, 81 will be earmarked for entry including 11 nonstop ETC and 99 for exit from the ORR and including 12 nonstop ETC.

With the invitations to bid slated to be made in the month of June, the minimum requirement for bidding qualification include successful implementation of at least three similar project within last 10 years and the projects adding together at least 100 touch and go lanes or any kind of ETC lanes.

While the toll management centre system is to be installed at main traffic control centre to come up at Nanakramguda interchange, the sub-traffic control centre will come up at Ghatkesar and toll gate offices at all the 19 interchanges along the ORR. The nonstop electronic toll collection is to be installed at select interchanges with a total of 11 entry lanes and 12 exit lanes.

Interchanges

The locations of the interchanges on ORR include Nanakramguda, A.P. Police Academy, north and south sides of Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Pedda Golconda, Tukkuguda, Raviryal, Bongulur, Amberpet, Taramatipet, Ghatkesar, Keesara, Shamirpet, Medchal, Saragudem, Sultanpur, Patancheru, Idulnagapalli and Kokapet.
