Shimoga
SHIMOGA: A weeklong international film festival on psychiatry, organised by the Department of Information, Shimoga Belli Mandala – the district unit of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy – and the district administration, will open here on Sunday. Shimoga MP B.Y. Raghavendra will inaugurate the event that is to be held at a number of locations in the city. The festival will open with the screening of Aamir Khan's “Taare Zameen Par”. Other movies to be screened include “Kaadina Benki”, “Devarayee” (Marathi), “Prathama Usha Kiran” and “Beautiful Mind” (English). Admission is free. The films will be followed by a discussion, each day. Psychiatrist Avadhesh Sharma, film director Girish Kasaravalli, chairperson of the Karnataka Film Chamber Jaimala, chairman of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy T.S. Nagabharana, actors Umashree and Tara, former Minister Kumar Bangarappa and Director of Information Vishukumar will participate.
