Shimla: Tipplers will have to shell out more for alcohol in Himachal Pradesh now with the State raising the prices of all kind of liquor by Rs.15 to 20 per litre.In accordance with the new excise policy, the prices of “Indian made foreign liquor” (IMFL) and local alcohol have shot up in the range of Rs.15-20, Excise and Taxation Commissioner J. C. Sharma said. The licence fee and excise duty on liquor have been raised pushing up prices. The step has been taken to mobilise additional revenue from the state, Mr. Sharma added. According to sources in the Excise Department, the total revenue collected from the State from sale of liquor last financial year (2009-10) was Rs.480 crore, which is expected to rise to Rs.540 crore in 2010-11.- PTI
