CHANDIGARH: A beheaded body of a young man found on Sunday night in a canal near Rohtak, 200 km from here, has sparked another “honour killing” row. The victim has been identified as Vikas from Panipat. His father, an employee of the State Irrigation Department, has alleged that Vikas has been killed at the behest of his beloved's family, who did not approve of their alliance. A few days after the first ever conviction in a case of “honour killing” led to a death sentence for the accused, all of whom were relatives of the girl's family from a backward village in Haryana, Vikas's father alleged that his son too is a victim of the same evil. He said they had been asked by the girl's family to leave Panipat and that they even got Vikas booked in a fake theft case. Police blamed He also blamed the police for not taking any action against the girl's family even though his son had been missing for the last 15 days. Meanwhile, the police refused to comment on the details and said raids are under way to catch the accused.
