NEW DELHI: ONGC, Mumbai, had an easy outing against Hindustan FC, scoring a 3-0 victory over the local team in the ONGC 2nd division football league match at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday. The Mumbai team took the lead in the fifth minute when Babmas Babatunde headed home following a corner. The Hindustan defence left Babatunde unmarked and paid the price. All efforts of Hindustan to get the equaliser failed as its attacks fizzled out at the all-important finish. The local team earned a series of three corners towards the end of the first half but failed to cash in. The second half saw ONGC making incessant attacks on the rival goal but the Mumbai side also finished poorly. However, substitute Bikash Jairu made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute off a pass from Jatin Bisht. Monu Chaudhary strove well for Hindustan but lacked support. Any hope of Hindustan making a comeback in the match was quashed when in 79th minute Tarif Ahmed netted off a splendid pass from Parwinder Singh. The margin of the victory could have been more but the Mumbai strikers were unlucky as their shots hit the crossbar on two occasions. Goalkeeper Vikrant Sharma made some good saves for Hindustan. ONGC lead the table with seven points from three matches. Hindustan has four from four matches and is placed fifth in the standings. At Bangalore: Titanium 0 drew with Golden Threads, Ernakulam .
