Sporting gears up to take on JCT

Margao: Buoyed by its empathic win over Salgaocar, Sporting Clube de Goa will look to maintain its winning momentum when it takes on a depleted JCT on Wednesday in the 20th round I-league match at the Nehru Stadium here.

Sporting scored its second win of the campaign against Salgaocar 3-1 in the last round.

It now needs to consistently win matches in order to avoid relegation. The Goan club has been in decent form with just one defeat in its last six matches. If it continues to maintain the form, there is all possibility of it avoiding relegation.

One player who has played a vital role in its improvement is young Adil Khan. Khan, a midfielder, had made a remarkable contribution in scoring goals for the team in both its wins. Their strikers who had let the team down in previous matches were also looking sharper this time. — PTI
