KOLLAM: Marxist ideologue P. Govinda Pillai has been selected for the ‘Janasevana Praveen' award instituted by the V. Sambasivan Foundation. The award, given once in five years, carries a cash prize of Rs.5,000, a trophy and a citation. Mr. Pillai is the second winner of the award. The first winner was V.S. Achuthanandan. The award is given to leading personalities who have dedicated their lives for the service of the people, said foundation secretary Vasanthakumar Sambasivan at a press conference here on Wednesday. The annual V. Sambasivan commemoration will be held here on April 21 and 22. The Sambasivan Kathaprasanga festival will be held on the first day. The Sambasivan commemoration cultural meet will be held on April 22.
