Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: A wild buffalo gored a 39-year-old forest dweller near Agasthyar Hills on Wednesday afternoon. The police identified the injured as Mathan, a resident of Pothode tribal settlement. They said he was collecting firewood when he accidentally strayed into the path of a wild bull. The lone animal gored Mathan on his chest and thighs. Local people heard Mathan's shouts for help and rescued him by scaring the animal away. Officials said wild animals often strayed to human settlements inside the ecologically important Agasthyar biosphere during summer, a time when natural water sources dry up.
