Call to encourage cultivation of herbs

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The government must promote the farming of Ayurvedic herbs to ensure a steady supply of plants and other raw materials used to manufacture Ayurvedic medicines, the Association of Dravya Vijnan Specialists has said.

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, office bearers of the body demanded the introduction of trade licence for Ayurvedic drugs. Clinical trials must be made compulsory for manufacturing licence, to restrict the entry of medicines with faulty claims. The second convention of the association will conclude in the city on Friday.
