Jit, Moumita in for double crowns

KOLKATA: Jit Chanda of South Kolkata and Moumita Dutta of North 24 Parganas districts brightened chances of a double crown each by reaching the finals of the boys' and girls' nursery and cadet sections respectively in the Kolkata table tennis championship, a state-ranking stage II event on Thursday.

The results (semifinals): Boys: Cadet: Jit Chand (SK) bt Surojit Saha (N24) 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5; Ronit Bhanja (N24) bt Nildip Das (SK) 11-4, 11-7, 13-11.

Nursery: Jit Chanda bt Rounak Majumdar (N24) 11-2, 11-6; Sayan Chatterjee (NK) bt Saikat Dey (EK) 11-3, 11-7.

Girls: Cadet: Poulami Das (N24) bt Ankita Patra (N24) 11-2, 11-2, 9-11, 11-6; Moumita Dutta (N24) bt Monidipa Khara (N24) 11-3, 11-7, 11-7.
