BANGALORE: Environmentalists and public-spirited persons opposed to the destruction of the green cover at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Park for making way to a war memorial won the first round of litigation when the Karnataka High Court stayed for a week felling of trees in the park. A Division Bench comprising Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice Mohan Shantangouder passed the order in a public interest litigation (PIL) petition by the Krishna Apartment Residents Welfare Association and Sudheer Pai. The petitioners have challenged the decision of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in permitting the Agenda for Bangalore and Development Task Force (ABIDe) to fell the trees.
