WE PROTEST”: “ KOLKATA: The Opposition parties which are not allied with either the Congress or the BJP may call for an all-India bandh in protest against the Centre's policies leading to price rise, said Biman Bose, Chairman of the Left Front Committee in West Bengal, here on Thursday. The decision to organise a “Bharat bandh” will be taken at a meeting of non-Congress, non-BJP parties in New Delhi on April 12, said Mr. Bose, who is also a member of the CPI (M) Polit Bureau. Even though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Finance Minster Pranab Mukherjee have admitted the seriousness of the problem, the Centre has not taken up any specific programme to resolve the matter, Mr. Bose said at a sit-in demonstration here as part of the nationwide protest by Left parties. “The policies being adopted by the Centre in economic matters as well as foreign affairs indicate its acceptance of its role as a younger brother of the U.S. that could ultimately endanger the very sovereignty of the nation,” Mr. Bose said. He strongly criticised the State's main Opposition party, the Trinamool Congress, for being “a party without any ideology.”
