Summer camps are back

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: Come April and the city is abuzz with a slew of activity camps focused on children with stress on personality development. It is no different this year.

Leading the pack is Chinnara Mela organised by Rangayana, which is among the most popular summer camps for children.

But given its limited intake, there are other institutions that have come up with similar camps, including the Mysore zoo. The camps provide children greater exposure and help them overcome diffidence and enhance communication skills.

And taking the cue from such organisations, institutions and centres offering yoga courses have jumped the summer camp bandwagon. They are organising yoga camps that are also open to adults.

A two-month camp by Mysore Yoga Shiksana Samsthe will begin on Monday. For details, call 9449886322.

Focus

While most camps focus on outdoor activities with a smattering of indoor games, Brahmanand School of Arts is organising a summer vacation camp, where participants will be taught light music, devotional songs, Dasarapadas and Bhagavad Gita from April 16 to May 15.

Children participating in the camp will also be taught personality development and communication skills.

In addition, there will be yoga and meditation classes. For registration, call 9980815709.
