‘Globalnet +' launched

VISAKHAPATNAM: NIIT Globalnet + , a Network and Infrastructure Management Programme, was launched by Regional IT Officer, IT and Communication Department, Government of AP, Raja Bangari, at the Vizag Centre of NIIT on Friday.

Addressing the students of NIIT Vizag Centre after the launch, Mr. Raja said that IT exports from Visakhapatnam touched the Rs.900-crore makr during 2009-10, registering 100 per cent growth. He said that most of the IT companies have their offices in the city and many more were keen on setting up their operations in the city. This was because Visakhapatnam was 35 per cent cheaper than the other centres. A team from IBM had recently visited the city and conducted a study. A final decision was awaited in this regard. He said that 12,000 people were employed in the IT sector in the city at present. and in the next few years their number was expected to go up to 22,000. He expressed the view that the new course launched by NIIT would be of great use to students as there were many opportunities in networking and IT infrastructure management services.

Director of NIIT Vizag Centre N.P. Kishore said that the global IT infrastructure management services market was estimated at $ 86 billion to $ 150 billion. Correspondent of AL-Ameer Group of Educational Institutions I.H. Farooqi was present.
