NALGONDA: CPI (M) MLA of Miryalaguda Julakanti Ranga Reddy is all set to launch an indefinite hunger strike in Miryalaguda on April 10 demanding immediate purchase of the Nellore samba masuri (NLR 34449) paddy by the Civil Supplies department, FCI and other government agencies at minimum support price from the farmers. Mr. Ranga Reddy had earlier organised indefinite hunger stirs on several occasions demanding redressal of public grievances in the constituency in the past. The latest move on the part of the Miryalaguda MLA assumes significance in the backdrop of the problems faced by the farmers in selling their agriculture produce due to the reluctance of the millers to purchase the NLR 34449 variety of paddy on the pretext of ‘black spot'. When contacted, Mr Ranga Reddy said that he would undertake an indefinite hunger stir in front of the agriculture market yard in Miryalaguda from Saturday to press for the purchase of NLR 34449 variety of paddy by the government agencies at the MSP from the farmers.
