Minister rules out aerial strikes against Maoists

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallamraju on Monday ruled out the possibility of engaging helicopters and aircraft from the defence forces to flush out Maoists from their strongholds.

When a group of reporters asked him to comment on reported move to attack the Maoists with aerial strikes at a function at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, he said there was no such possibility.

“How can we engage air force against our own civilians,” he asked. Only for transportation, we may use,” he pointed out.
