VISAKHAPATNAM: Collector J. Syamala Rao on Monday instructed the officials concerned to take immediate steps whenever drinking water problem was noticed in villages. He was responding to complaints on drinking water supply from several villages during Prajavaani, the weekly grievance redressal programme, at the Collectorate. Mr. Syamala Rao told the Rural Water Supply engineers to carry out repairs to borewells, tanks and pipelines and take other measures to avoid problems in drinking water supply. Petitions were received seeking houses, ration cards, house sites, Arogya Sri, etc. Joint Collector P. Bhaskar, Additional Joint Collector S. Satyanarayana, District Revenue Officer D.V. Reddy and others also accepted petitions from the people. A total of 246 petitions relating to revenue, GVMC, housing, welfare for physically-challenged, DRDA and other departments were received. Project Director of DRDA K. Srikanth Prabhakar, Assistant Director of Welfare for Physically-Challenged V.V.S.S.S. Murthy, Supervisor of Prajavaani K. Gnanaveni and other officials were present.
