VLB Janakiammal is champion

COIMBATORE: VLB Janakiammal College of Engineering and Technology defeated Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology by 12 runs to emerge the champion of the Anna University Coimbatore Zone-2 cricket tournament at the VLB grounds recently.

After posting 147, the host bundled out the opposition for 135.

Earlier, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering posted a nine-wicket win over Nehru IET for the third place.

The scores: Final: VLB Janakiammal 147 in 25 overs (Naseer 38, S. Arun three for 27) bt Sri Krishna CET 135 in 23.5 overs (R. Arun 32, Prakash three for 29, K. Prabhakaran three for 10).

Third place: Nehru IET 39 in 9.1 overs (Malar four for 12) lost to Sri Ramakrishna EC 40 for one in 7.2 overs .

Table tennis camp

Youngsters Table Tennis Coaching Academy will conduct a summer camp for boys and groups in the age of group of seven to 18 at the YTTA Hall, Muthu Engineering, on NSR Road from May 1 to 15.

Summer camp

Maruthi Cricket Academy will conduct a summer camp at the Suburban HSS grounds from April 14 to May 31.

Former district captain and district coaching committee chairman T.S. Rajendran and K.R. Srinivasan, under the guidance of former State cricketers, will coach the boys.

The camp will also serve as a selection trials to pick the boys for the all-India tournament to be held in Bangalore later this month.

Easy for Laidlaw

At Udhagamandalam, Jaison Jaiprakash (three for six) and Marcus Greenwood (three for seven) made merry with the ball as The Laidlaw Memorial School posted a thumping 10-wicket win over Stanes HSS in the NDCA under-16 inter-school cricket tournament for the Selma Rolling Trophy at the LMS grounds on Sunday.

The scores:

Stanes HSS 38 (Jaison Jaiprakash three for six, Marcus Greenwood three for seven) lost to The Laidlaw Memorial 40 for no loss in 8.2 overs.

Stanes HSS 79 (Arjun Lamba four for 16, Amar Gupta three for zero) lost to Lawrence School 80 for six in 21.3 overs (Amar Gupta 38 n.o.).

Sateesh shines

At Namakkal, S. Sateesh Kumar's unbeaten 97 enabled SPB Cricket Club (Pallipalayam) score a four-wicket win over Ranjit Cricket Club ‘B' (Tiruchengodu) in the TNCA-DCAN first division league at the SPB Colony grounds on Sunday.

The scores:

First division: Ranjit CC ‘B' (Tiruchengodu) 191 in 39.2 overs (G. Manikandan 108, M. Karthik three for 29) lost to SPB CC (Pallipalayam) 193 for six in 39.1 overs (S. Sateesh Kumar 97 not out, R. Kannan three for 15).

Second division: Leela Memorial CC (Namakkal) 159 for nine in 35 overs (Gopi 35, Dharmaraj three for 30) bt Challengers CC (Namakkal) 82 in 23.2 overs (Ramesh three for 18, Kathirvel three for 13) .
