Site for memorial inspected

Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM: Collector R. Palanisamy on Tuesday inspected the site selected for constructing a memorial for former Chief Minister ‘Omandur' P. Ramasamy Reddiar, at the latter's birth place, Omandur, near Tindivanam.

He later told reporters that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had made an announcement about construction of the memorial, during his recent visit to Villupuram. Already, a piece of land measuring one acre and two cents had been acquired at Omandur for the purpose and registered in the name of the Director, Information and Public Relations. The blueprint and estimate for the memorial would soon be prepared and sent to the governmen.

The Collector later visited a park named after Ramasamy Reddiar at Tindivanam. He instructed officials to pay attention to the upkeep of the park and set right the damaged portion of the compound wall.
