Padmarajan Puraskaram for writer Paul Zachariah

Thiruvananthapuram: The Padmarajan Puraskaram for the best short story published in 2009 has gone to Paul Zachariah for his short story, ‘Alfonsammayude Maranavum Shavasamskaravum', which had been published in Mathrubhumi weekly.

The award, instituted by the Padmarajan Memorial Trust, carries a plaque and a cash award of Rs.10,000.

The trust's award for the best film of 2009 has been awarded to ‘Madhyavenal,' scripted by Anil Mukhathala and directed by Madhu Kaithapram. The film has been produced by Jahangir Shamz. The film's director will get a cash award of Rs.20,000 and the scriptwriter Rs.10,000, apart from a plaque.

The awards were instituted by the trust to keep alive the memories of P. Padmarajan.
