THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Fire and Rescue Services on Wednesday observed Fire Services Day by demonstrating fire-fighting and rescue operation techniques and displaying their latest equipment here. The public were caught unawares when the Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to a high rise building on the M.G. Road near the Secretariat around 11 a.m. and engaged in fire-fighting and rescue operations. Only after a person was rescued from the second floor of the building and brought down through a ladder by the personnel, the public came to know that it was a mock exercise. Various fire-fighting techniques were demonstrated. The exercise was carried out on the instructions of Commandant General, Fire and Rescue, V.R. Rajiven and led by a team headed by Divisional Officer Joe Kuruvila.
