NALGONDA: The powerloom weavers owing allegiance to the Nalgonda District Powerloom Weavers Cooperative Society Ltd struck work and closed their powerlooms on Friday as part of an agitation protesting against the alleged multi-fold increase in the prices of yarn and cost of production. The powerloom production came to a halt in Nalgonda and other places in the district following the strike. In a statement, the society president M. Production was halted in around 25,000 powerlooms spread across the district, he said and demanded that the government initiate urgent steps to reduce the prices of raw material mainly of yarn to save the powerloom industry from the present crisis.
