Constables stage protest

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Over 200 police constables and head constables staged demonstration for nearly four hours demanding action against the principal in-charge of Amberpet Police Training College, Madhava Rao, accusing him of abusing them in filthy language.

The constables and head constables, including women, were undergoing training on being promoted and were about to appear for a written test in the morning.

The officer allegedly reprimanded them using objectionable words after finding ‘chits of information' in a bathroom.

The agitation started around noon and continued till evening. The IGP, Training, K. Durga Prasad, came there and pacified the agitating police personnel assuring action against the officer after conducting an inquiry.

Majority of the agitating policemen were seniors and had put in several years of service. Some of them were on the verge of retirement.
