DRC adopts resolution for Telangana

Srikrishna Committee urged to recommend formation of a separate State


Karimnagar DRC meet passes the resolution unanimously

Ministers, MPs, MLAs and others attend the meeting


KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar District Review Committee (DRC) held under the chairmanship of Minister for Civil Supplies Jupalli Krishna Rao on Saturday unanimously, passed a resolution urging Justice Srikrishna Committee to expedite the process of separate Telangana State.

As soon as the meeting was convened, TDP legislator L. Ramana suggested that the meeting pass a resolution about the importance of formation of separate Telangana State and submit the same to Srikrishna committee. At this juncture, the Minister for Civil Supplies said that they would discuss the issue after the completion of agenda.

However, Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud said that the meeting should send a message to the Sri Krishna committee about the importance of formation of Telangana and suggested resolution for Telangana State. Peddapalli MP G. Vivekanand also said that the Telangana MPs have submitted a memorandum to the Srikrishna committee and stressed on the need for passing a resolution on separate Telangana at the DRC.

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar also ratified the same and suggested that the meeting should observe two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the Telangana martyrs.

Accordingly, the meeting observed two minutes silence and passed a resolution demanding the formation of Telangana state.

Karimnagar legislator G. Kamalakar suggested that similar resolutions be passed during the ensuing Praja Patham programme in the district.

However, Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu opposed it. ZP chairman A. Laxman Kumar, legislators S. Devaiah, A. Mohan, Ch. Vijayaramana Rao, S. Satyanarayana, A. Praveen Reddy, MLC Bhanuprasad Rao, Collector G.D. Aruna and others were also present.
