Summary revision of electoral rolls

Special Correspondent

Process will be on till April 30 in 15 Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad district

HYDERABAD: Here's a chance for citizens of above 18 years of age (as on January 1, 2010) to enrol, rectify errors or seek deletions from the photo electoral rolls as the summary revision has begun in the 15 Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad district from April 15.

The revision process will be taken up till April 30 and three block level officers have been stationed at all the 3,174 polling stations spread over the city. Forms for inclusions, deletions and corrections will also be taken up in the municipal circle offices as the deputy commissioners concerned also double up as elector registration officers, said GHMC Special Commissioner Navin Mittal on Friday.

Addressing a press conference, he said weekends of Saturday and Sunday of this week (April 17 & 18) and next week (April 24 & 25) were designated as special campaign days with the election officials stationed at the polling stations to take up representations.

Forms can also be downloaded from the GHMC website and submitted in person with passport size photographs as each elector name has to be accompanied by a photograph. Voters will get another chance to rectify any anomalies in the elector list when the draft rolls will be published on May 15.

There will be time till June 12 for corrections before the final lists are published, he said. Additional Commissioner (Elections) K. Sudhakar was also present. There are 32.5 lakh electors in the district and among them 16.8 lakh are men and 15.7 lakh are women.
