NEW DELHI: On the eve of the BJP's anti-price rise rally at Ramlila Grounds here on Wednesday, young party leaders organised a road show on Tuesday in New Delhi district which culminated with a symbolic sale of vegetables, fruit and other household articles of daily use outside the Chief Minister's residence.

The protest was organised by former MLA Vijay Jolly and former Delhi Mayor and BJP national secretary Arti Mehra. Delhi BJP general secretary Parvesh Verma and party leader Poonam Azad participated in it along with a large number of party workers. Setting out in about 50 cars and an equal number of two-wheelers the party workers organised the road show to garner support for the anti-price rise rally. Riding atop vehicles bedecked with party flags and posters, the party leaders went round several areas such as Sarojini Nagar, Lodhi Road, Gole Market, Bengali Market and Connaught Place. Along the way they also addressed party workers and public.

They later arrived at the residence of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit carrying baskets of vegetables, fruit, sugar, tea and milk packets which they tried to sell as part of the protest against soaring prices and rising inflation.

The party accused the UPA Government at the Centre in general and the Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister in particular for creating a situation in which an artificial shortage of commodities has been created and the prices allowed to head north.

They also held the Congress Government in Delhi responsible for burdening the people even more with increases in bus and metro rail fares and raising the prices of milk, diesel and cooking gas.
