CHENNAI: Three persons were detained by the Koyambedu police for allegedly trying to rob a pawn broker at Koyambedu here on Monday evening. According to police sources, Utham Chand of Kosapettai, who owns a pawn shop at Maduravoyal, was invited by a person for discussing a business deal. On reaching Koyambedu, the person took Chand on a motorcycle. A little later, two others who followed in another motorcycle, intercepted and threatened Chand at knifepoint to part with his valuables. Stunt assistants The victim managed to get off the motorcycle and cried for help. A police patrol team which came that way saw the three suspects chasing Chand and apprehended them. The three suspects were said to be stunt assistants. Further investigation is on. Another case In another case at Vyasarpadi, a man who boarded a lorry at knifepoint and tried to rob the driver was arrested on Monday night. Police said Vairamuthu (40) of Vyasarpadi threw stones on a lorry. When the driver Suresh (40) of Arani stopped, he got into the vehicle. The accused brandished a knife and threatened Suresh to part with all the money he had. Suresh raised an alarm and drove straight to a check-point where police were present.
