GUNTUR: Superintendent of Police Shankha Brata Bagchi, who was promoted and transferred as DIG Greyhounds on Tuesday, will be remembered for his many initiatives that aimed at bringing in confidence among people in the police department. An IPS officer of the 1996 batch, Dr. Bagchi assumed office here on June 22, 2009, after passing out of Indian School of Business. He got Selection Grade SP rank on December 26, 2009. He showed remarkable alacrity in reaching remote areas quickly in times of major road accidents/incidents and the way he coordinated in evacuating people during the Krishna floods in October 2009 won him all-round praise.
