13 injured in building collapse

HASSAN: A community hall that was in the final stages of construction on the Hassan-Holenarasipur Road collapsed at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, injuring 13 construction workers. As many as 30 construction workers from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh were reportedly working on the building.

The community hall, which measures 300 ft. by 200 ft. belongs to the Karnataka Milk Federation. People nearby said that they first mistook the loud sound for a lorry unloading stones.

Hosakoppalu resident Paramesh, who was near the building, said that the four pillars holding up the portico collapsed, bringing down the roof on the four construction workers. The workers were Anand, David, Santi and Issac.
