KOCHI: Ernakulam district has mobilised revenue resources of Rs. 7,165 crore through various departments in the 2009-10 financial year. This was an increase of Rs. 531 crore more than the previous year. The sales tax department, which collected up to 91 per cent of the targeted collections, made the highest contribution to the State exchequer. Under the supervision of two deputy commissioners in Ernakulam and Mattancherry, the department collected Rs. 6,483 crore during the period. The motor vehicle department collected in excess of its target. Under the RTOs in Muvattupuzha and Ernakulam, Rs. 170 crore was collected. The forest department contributed Rs. 38.74 crore to the State exchequer. This was an increase of Rs. 13.62 crore compared to the previous fiscal. The excise department, which collected Rs. 85.95 crore, was able to collect Rs. 3.15 crore than the previous year. The registration department collected Rs. 350.13 crore on account of stamp duty and registration fees. The lottery department registered an increase of Rs. 93.64 crore than the previous year by collecting Rs. 36.62 crore. The revenue department collected Rs. 29.87 crore as land tax and Rs. 53.38 crore through revenue recovery.
