New IG takes charge in Kannur

In New role:Inspector- General of Police (Kannur Range) Sudhesh Kumar after he took charge in the IG Office in Kannur on Wednesday.

KANNUR: Inspector-General of Police (Kannur Range) Sudhesh Kumar took charge at the I-G's Office here on Wednesday.

Mr. Kumar, who is a 1987 batch IPS officer, assumed charge here in the morning.

He replaces Tomin J. Thachankary, who was placed under suspension for going abroad allegedly without taking the government's permission.

Seeks cooperation

Talking to reporters, he said he was confident that he could perform his duties with the full cooperation of the people.

His experience of serving in the district as police officer earlier would also stand him in good stead, Mr. Kumar added.

District Superintendent of Police K.P. Philip was also present when Mr.Kumar took charge. Mr. Kumar had earlier served as IG State Crime Records Bureau.
