Tax team gets Prime Minister's award

NEW DELHI: The Integrated Taxpayer Data Management System Department (360 degree profiling) has been conferred the Prime Minister's Award for excellence in governance and administration.

A team from ITDMS, developed by the Investigation Division of the Income Tax Department, consisting of Director-General of Income Tax (Investigation) S. S. Khan, Milap Jain and G.T.V. Rao received the award from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a function here on Wednesday.

Led by Mr. Khan, the team developed an indigenous software solution to create a holistic view of the financial affairs of individuals and groups.

The process

The software was developed for converting information in various data bases into actionable intelligence. The pilot project used to customise name search engine was run for a year with excellent results and then ITDMS was developed into an enterprise level solution.

The investigation wing is using the information developed through ITDMS for various investigation purposes. This solution helps collating transactions of an entity and group for non intrusive investigation.
