British Deputy High Commissioner to India Richard Hyde (left) with Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S. Suresh Kumar when he called on the latter in Bangalore on Wednesday. Bangalore: Britain has expressed confidence about India's ability to provide security to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October. Interacting with presspersons here on Wednesday, British Deputy High Commissioner to India Richard Hyde said: “we have a lot of confidence in the Indian Government that it will be able to hold the Commonwealth Games successfully”. ‘Good job' Asked if there were concerns in Britain over security to the Commonwealth Games, Mr. Hyde said the Indian authorities had done a “good” job, as was evident during the recent hockey World Cup. Mr. Hyde said Britain was “very confident” in the ability of the Indian Government hosting the event. Security was a problem in many countries and “it's a problem we all face. We are all concerned about security everywhere”, Mr. Hyde added. After the twin low intensity blasts at the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here before an IPL match, Australia, one of the major participants in the Commonwealth Games, had enquired about the explosions and the kind of security provided. The explosions at the stadium had injured 17 people, including some police personnel.
