Aditya Jagtap loses in semifinals
New Delhi: Aditya Jagtap's late charge proved insufficient as the Indian suffered a straight sets defeat against Egypt's Amr Khaled Khalifa in the semifinals of the German junior Open squash championships in Germering.
The third-seeded Jagtap, India's lone challenge at the Super Series championship on the European Squash Federation junior circuit, lost 2-11, 2-11, 13-15 to his second-seeded opponent in 35 minutes on Tuesday.
In the quarterfinals, Jagtap had to bring in all his experience on the court to get past fifth seed Zahed Sherien of Egypt 10-12, 11-5, 8-11, 15-13, 11-2.
In the final, Khalifa defeated top seed Rudi Rohrmuller of Germany 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 8-11, 11-3 to clinch the title. — PTI
