KADAPA: Members of Students Federation of India took out a rally and burnt an effigy of Rosaiah Government at Seven Roads junction here on Thursday evening, denouncing the Cabinet's decision to cut down the seats in IIITs in the State.

The Cabinet decision to impose a 50 per cent cut in seats in three IIITs at Basara, Idupulapaya and Nuzvid, which presently have a total intake of 12,000 students is uncalled for, said SFI State president M. Surya Rao, secretary K. Chandramohan, vice-president Noor Ahmed and joint secretary Salima. The government made an allocation of Rs. 400 crore, half of the budgetary requirement and mooted reduction in student intake by 50 per cent, they said. They demanded withdrawal of the decision.
