Rape attempt on Vidya volunteer

GUNTUR: A seven-month pregnant Scheduled Caste woman, a Vidya volunteer at Mudu Thumula thanda in Bollapalli mandal, was returning from school at noon on Thursday, when Papi Reddy, a mason, offered to drop her at her destination on motorcycle. After reaching some distance, he tried to outrage her modesty and when she resisted, he allegedly hit her with a stone, leading to head injuries. She was shifted to Guntur Government Hospital in the evening.

In a second incident, Shaik Khader Bee, 25, married to Sheik Mastan Vali, a mason, was four-month pregnant and as he did not want the child, he forcibly administered some tablets two days ago in Vinukonda. On Thursday, she was admitted to the Government Hospital, where she died.
