Letters to the Editor
The points raised in your editorial “Walk the talk” (April 22) were quite interesting. But 30 minutes of physical activity in the form of cycling or walking appears to be too distant a dream to be achieved in our country. In countries like the U.S., the first way of right is always for pedestrians. There is even respect for jay-walkers sometimes. But in our country, big city roads are devoid of platform, not to speak of its usability. Apart from road conditions, the weather is also a dampener in most southern parts of India, discouraging “walkability.” We are a long way off pedestrian-friendly roads. Alwar Kannan, Hyderabad
