This bureaucrat prefers to have his way
Nothing is permanent except change. So we have a new Collector in Natarajan Gulzar for the State capital. His first encounter – rather interaction – with the fourth estate was a pleasant surprise. This young bureaucrat, who is donning the Collector's role for the first time, is not afraid of bad press. In fact he welcomes negative reports so that he is aware of the ground realities.
That's good news.
But the bad one is Mr. Gulzar likes to relate to the media his own way. Well, he wouldn't be accessible all the time but when he wants. Another thing he doesn't like is press covering the weekly “Meekosam” programme at Collectorate as something unpleasant might turn up. “Just because you have pen you can't write what you want”, Mr. Gulzar cautioned. The press should learn to adjust to his way of functioning.
Take it or leave it. But isn't there a two way street in any relationship?
