Thrissur takes first innings lead

Ernakulam: Thrissur took the first innings lead against host Ernakulam in the Central Zone under-19 inter district cricket tournament at the KRL ground here on Friday.

Thrissur bowlers Krishna Kumar (three for 27) and P.S. Akhil (three for 25) were instrumental in bowling out Ernakulam cheaply. Ernakulam, in reply to Thrissur's first innings score of 148, was bundled out 136 runs.

At Palace Oval, Palakkad was in command against Idukki. After restricting Idukk to 200, Palakkad finished the day strongly at 79 for no loss.

The scores: Thrissur 148 (Danish Paul 34, Ahmed Kabeer six for 50, A. Akhil three for 38) and 20 for three v Ernakulam 136 (A. Akhil 48, Krishna Kumar three for 27, P.S. Akhil three for 25).

Idukki 200 (Anoop Mohan 69, Manu Dev 41, Nithin Lal 36, Raheed four for 33, Abin Babu three for 58) v Palakkad 79 for no loss (V.M. Vinod 35 no).
