Good response to summer camp

TIRUCHI: The Muthamizh Kalai Panpattu Maiyam that was inaugurated recently in the city has stated its maiden programme of providing free five-day summer camp for the school children (VI to XII Standards) to motivate them to know the basics of dance, drama, music, oratory, etc. The camp evoked good response as about 60 students, including 30 girls, attending the camp.

The children were being taught on the basics of all arts at Kalai Arangam here from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. every day. Resource persons from Tiruchi city were providing the basic training.

Sathiyan of Tiruchi, a master of folk dance, music, etc., imparted training in folk arts on Monday and a teacher of a music school provided basic coaching in vocal music on Tuesday. Muthuvel Azhagan, a drama artiste, will give drama coaching on Wednesday. Kalaimamani Revathi Muthuswamy, Director of Srirangam Bharathanatyalaya, will teach the students the basics of Bharathanatyam on Thursday.

V.Jawahar Arumugam, member of the Muthamizh Kalai Panpattu Maiyam, said that the body would organise such motivation camps regularly.
