Lifer commits suicide in Central Jail

TIRUCHI: A lifer allegedly committed suicide inside the Central Prison here on Tuesday. Jail authorities gave the name of the deceased as N. Natarajan (60) of Vilvakudi in Mannachanallur taluk. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case registered in Samayapuram Police Station in 2002. He had been in the Central Prison since 2004.

Prison and police sources said Natarajan had hung himself from a tree using a dhothi near the Closed Prison -2 block inside the sprawling jail campus. A jail employee who noticed it alerted the authorities.

He was declared brought dead at the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital here where a post mortem would be conducted. The K.K. Nagar Police have registered a case.
