KOCHI: Firoz, the bus conductor wanted for assaulting a woman passenger, was arrested by the Ernakulam Town Central Police, when he appeared at the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court –II to surrender around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. A case was registered against Firoz for slapping the passenger when she asked for the balance amount after paying the fare. The incident occurred on April 16 and he has been absconding since then. The police team had waited for him on Monday, following information from the court that he might turn up for surrendering. Burglary The house of George Parackal, judicial member of Central Administrative Tribunal, near Ernakulam North Railway Station was broken into on Monday night. The burglars forced themselves into the top floor of the house and made away with gold ornaments weighing eight sovereigns and Rs. 40,000. A police team led by D.S. Suneesh Babu, circle inspector, Ernakulam North, has begun a probe into the incident. In other incidents, the Ernakulam Town Central Police arrested Mani, 35, of Kadavanthra, on charge of stealing shoe dye worth Rs. 90,000 from the parcel centre of the South railway station. The accused was working on contract as a loading worker there. The police team led by Circle Inspector G. Venu and sub-inspector P.S. Shyju arrested the accused while he was allegedly moving the stolen material near Chavara Cultural Centre, Karikkamuri on Monday night.
